Goals and Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the pathophysiology of childhood asthma with emphasis on peripheral airway disease and heterogeneity of the disease.
- Discuss the current management of asthma in children with focus on tailoring asthma care for each patient.
- Identify limitations of our preferred medication steps in asthma management in children.
- Summarize reasons that alternative treatment steps, specifically the use of a leukotriene receptor antagonist, could provide benefit in overall asthma management for children.
