Target Audience

Physicians, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and other Allied Healthcare Professionals interested in the treatment of Asthma.


Goals and Objectives

After completing this review of exercise-induced asthma, physicians should be able to:

1. Summarize risk factors for exercise-induced asthma.
2. Describe prevalence rates of exercise-induced asthma and factors that influence prevalence.
3. Outline the pathogenesis of exercise-induced asthma in the context of allergic and non-allergic asthma.
4. Understand when to use, and how to interpret, pulmonary function testing to confirm or rule out exercise-induced asthma.
5. Differentiate exercise-induced asthma from conditions that mimic the condition.
6. Prepare an individualized management plan for a patient with exercise-induced asthma.
